A BOM is more than a list of part numbers. Quantity, timing, packaging and acceptance needs determine whether a supplier option is commercially usable.

Requirement data

Which BOM formats can I use?

The live workspace parses CSV files with manufacturer part number, manufacturer and quantity columns. You can also paste lines or add them manually. XLS and XLSX files can be shared with the sourcing team after the initial reply.

What happens when a line is incomplete or cannot be matched?

The line is kept separate for clarification or deep sourcing. Potential alternatives are not presented as exact matches and may require engineering approval.

Does a match mean stock is reserved?

No. Availability from warehouse-held inventory or reviewed sourcing channels, together with quoted quantity, pricing, MOQ, packaging and lead time, is confirmed for the specific quotation. A submitted BOM does not reserve stock.

Can I include date-code, packaging or traceability requirements?

Yes. Add these requirements to the RFQ so the proposed source can be reviewed against the acceptance criteria that matter to your organization.

How is my BOM information used?

Prepared CSV and pasted lines stay in the current browser tab until you submit the form. Submitted details are included in the business inquiry so Chip-seek can review and follow up on the requested quotation.
